Joe Paterno, PT, OCS, COMT, CMP, CSCS

Joe has been working as physical therapist for the past 26 years. He is a 1981 graduate from the University of Iowa and has been specializing in orthopedics for the past 24 years. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Oregon Physical Therapy Association. He is the board chair of the non-profit Oregon Orthopedic Physical Therapy study group.

In addition to attending numerous continuing education courses, Joe has also pursued further certifications in several areas. In 1995, he became a certified orthopedic manual therapist through the North American Institute of Manual Therapy (COMT). He achieved his board certification in orthopedics from the American Physical Therapy Association (OCS) in 1996. In 2004, Joe began a certified Mulligan practitioner (CMP). Joe recently became certified as a strength and conditioning specialist in 2005 through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (CSCS). Joe also enjoys running, tennis, and playing the guitar.




Ellen Grover PT, MPH, OCS

Ellen has been working as a physical therapist for the past 19 years. She is a 1988 graduate of Simmons College and has been specializing in orthopedics for the past 15 years. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Oregon Physical Therapy Association. She is a board member for the non-profit Oregon Orthopedic Physical Therapy study group.  

Ellen continues to pursue further education in orthopedic topics and attends continuing education courses regularly. She has completed course work from the North American Institute of Manual therapy through Level III. She has also completed courses in muscle energy and Mulligan techniques for the upper and lower quadrant. In 1996 she became board certified in orthopedics through the American Physical Therapy Association (OCS). In 2003, Ellen completed a Masters in Public Health from Portland State University and has a strong interest in health and wellness. Ellen enjoys soccer, hiking, and spending time with her family.





Brent Mueller PT, DPT


Brent graduated from Pacific University with a doctorate in physical therapy in 2008 and has had a special interest in orthopedics throughout graduate school. He has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Oregon Physical Therapy Association since 2005 and is a board member of Oregon Orthopedic Physical Therapy Study Group (OOPTSG). Brent is interested in pursuing further education in Mulligan, McKenzie, and Sahrmann specialties and educating athletes in injury prevention.

Brent married his beautiful wife in 2006, who is also in the medical field as a nurse. They have two handsome sons, Isaiah and Ezra. Brent enjoys the outdoors, playing basketball, running, spending time with the family, and ultimate Frisbee in his spare time.

 

 





Anne Bower PT, DPT

Anne received her doctorate in physical therapy from Pacific University in 2006 and has been working in the orthopedic outpatient setting since graduation. She has completed the series of courses in the Mulligan treatment approach and plans to complete the Mulligan certification exam. She has also taken courses in the Sahrmann approach, worker's injury rehabilitation, and spinal manipulation. In the future, she would like to pursue board certification in Orthopedics along with continued post-professional training.

In her free time, Anne enjoys running, hiking, and chasing after her two sons. She is also an avid fan of Gonzaga basketball, Timbers soccer, and the Times crossword puzzle.

Leslie Smith PT

Leslie has been working as physical therapist for the past 30 years. She graduated from the University of Utah in 1977 with a degree in Physical Therapy. She has a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh. She has specialized in orthopedics for the past 26 years.

Leslie has taken numerous courses in orthopedic topics, with particular emphasis on McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment for the Spine. She has also completed education in alternative manual therapy techniques including strain/counterstrain. She recently became certified in Biomechanical Bicycle Fitting. In addition to working at the clinic, Leslie also teaches Back Injury Prevention classes for companies around the United States. In her spare time Leslie enjoys hiking, biking and skiing.





Julie Moore

Julie is a Physical Therapy aide who grew up in northeast Portland and is glad to be back after graduating from the University of Oregon in 2008 with a degree in human physiology. Julie directs patients through exercises, applies therapeutic modalities, and helps out in the front office. She aspires to become a Physician's Assistant and will soon be applying to graduate programs.

Aside from work, Julie enjoys spending time with friends and family, volunteering, daily crosswords, as well as swimming and hiking.

Monica Egner

Monica is a Physical Therapy Aide who grew up in SE Portland. She graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in General Science in 2009 and is an avid Duck fan! Monica directs patients through exercises, applies therapeutic modalities, and helps out in the front office. She aspires to become a Nurse Practitioner and is currently applying to graduate programs.

In her free time, Monica enjoys taking dance classes, cooking, eating, watching Ducks football, and fostering kittens!

Jody Murphy

Jody is the office manager at Broadway Physical Therapy. She takes care of the office operations including patient registration, insurance verification and scheduling. Outside of work, Jody enjoys photography, gardening, going to concerts and gathering with friends for meals.
